KIIT play host to Central Zone Inter-University Games

Osmania University (Hyderabad) achieved a hat-trick by winning three out of six titles in the Central Zone Inter-University Games, which was held at KIIT University campus here from October 7 to 11. Osmania claimed the three titles women`s badminton, men`s tennis and women`s volleyball.

Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (Gwalior) bagged a double by winning both the men`s and women`s basketball titles. Out of the six titles on offer, the one in men`s badminton was grabbed by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (Hyderabad).

KIIT University men qualified for the all-India inter-zonal competitions in three disciplines _ tennis, badminton and basketball. KIIT founder Achyuta Samanta distributed the prizes at the closing function. As many as 35 universities from 14 states, including seven from Odisha particpated in the five-day Games.

Odisha universities included host KIIT, OUAT, Utkal University (both Bhubaneswar), Ravenshaw University (Cuttack), Berhampur University (Berhampur), Sambalpur University (Sambalpur), North Odisha (Baripada).

Badminton (Men): 1. Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (Hyderabad), 2. Osmania University (Hyderabad), 3. Sant Gadge Baba University (Amravati), 4. KIIT University (Bhubaneswar).
